NewtChorder is a guitarist’s tool: you can try out and play various chords. NewtChorder’s main window displays a stylized guitar with six strings and four frets. The frets can actually represent any four consecutive frets on the fretboard. In the pickup area, strings can be picked, either by tapping or with a stroke across a string. Note that more than one string can be picked with a single long stroke. There are two sliders to control volume and distortion. (The actual volume is corrected based on the frequency of the sound to adjust for the deficiencies of the internal speaker.)

NewtChorder requires NOS 2.1 and thus an MP 2x00 or eMate 300. An MP 2100 is recommended because neither the MP 2000 nor the eMate will support the six sound channels (one for each string) that NewtChorder tries to open. It will adapt to the limits imposed by the available heap space and make do with fewer channels, but playing all strings at once in autoplay mode will be disabled unless all six channels could be opened. The algorithm used to dynamically select the channel to play a note guarantees that as many notes as possible can be heard at the same time if you pick the strings in quick succession.

NewtChorder is freeware.
