Order Form v2.0---------------------------------------------------------------------copyright 1996 Stand Alone, Inc. & Ben GottliebNOTE: This software is for Newton 2.0 Newtons ONLY.* What's it do?--------------------------------------------------------------------- Order Form is a tool to allow you to take retail orders directly on your Newton. It provides you with the ability to create item lists with such information as product titles, prices, and tax-exempt status. You can the print or fax these, as either invoices, packing slips, or price quotes.* What's in this archive?--------------------------------------------------------------------- There is one Newton software package and two text files inthis archive. They are: * OrdrForm.txt document you're now reading. 'Nuff said. * OrdrForm.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton. * SAStuff.txt A list of all Stand Alone products.* Installing Order Form--------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, you must get the Order Form software package onto yourNewton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac orWindows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton BackupUtility. See the documentaion with each of these for moreinformation on installing packages with them.* Using Order Form--------------------------------------------------------------------- To use Order Form, you first need to create a list of products that you sell. Open up Order Form, tap on the 'i' button, and select "Edit ProductsÉ" from the popup menu. ¥ Product List Here you are presented with a list of all the items you've entered. Each item has an associated price. To edit or delete an item, tap on it, and the Product Editor will open. To create a new product, tap on the New button, and the Product Editor will open with a new item. You can use the A-Z indexes along the top and the scroll arrows on the right to see more products.¥ÊProduct Editor Here you can enter or change a product's name, it's price, and whether it's tax exempt or not. Go ahead and create a few items now.After you've created some items, close the Item Editor, and you'll be back in the main view.¥ Main View Here you can enter the relevant client data, as well as their order. Order Form is initially set up to let you enter the Client's name, phone number, email address, time/date of order, and the method of payment. Using the prefs, you can choose which of these you'd like shown by default. To enter more information about a client, just tap on the "Full" button.Below the client information is the product area. To add a product to the order, tap on the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen, and a popup of all your entered products will open. Just below the product area is a running total of the order, with and without taxes, discounts, and shipping costs.To set the tax, discount, and shipping rates for a product, tap the "%" button at the bottom of the screen. The Additional Costs view will open, in which you can set the tax rate(s), as well as both percentages and fixed costs for shipping and discounts.If you'd like either the customer or the sales clerk to sign for the order, tap on the "Sig" button at the bottom of the screen, and w signature field will appear. This will be printed on the invoice, if it is filled in.After setting the sale, you can tap on the Paid Via picker to select a payment method (cash, check, credit card, or purchase order.) If addition information is required, (such as a check or credit card number), a picker below will open, and you can enter required information into it.Finally, after the order is entered, you can print it in one of three formats. The Invoice prints out a standard invoice. Packing Slip removes all cost information, and is easily foldable to show the client's address. Price Quote leaves price information in, but removes shipping data.If you'd like to customize Order Form a bit more, you can go into the Prefs (via the 'i' button). Here you have several choices:¥ÊCompany Info Here you have the option to enter your company name, as well as the name of the sales clerk. Below this is an area to drag and drop a company icon or graphic, which will be printed on each print out. Currently, only items from the Scrapbook are support, but we are working on other methods. If you'd like to import your company logo into the Scrapbook, please contact us.¥ÊOrder Information Here you can select which fields are displayed in the Main View ¥ÊTax Rates Here you can set the default tax rates and labels (for example, some countries have both a government and local tax rate.)¥ÊLocation Here you can enter the return address that's printed on invoices and packing slips.Note: If you are updating from Order Form 1.0, be sure to tap the 'i' button and select "Update Products". You only need to do this once.* Registering Order Form--------------------------------------------------------------------- You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Order Form, during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register, you'll need to do one of the following: * Call us and pay using Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. We can give you a password right over the phone: instant gratification! (773) 477-2492. * Send us a check for $34.95 to the address below. * Using CompuServe, GO SWREG. However you register, PLEASE be sure to include an email address(it's not vital, but it will result in MUCH speedier service) and your name, as entered in the Owner Info section of your Newton. This is used to generate the password we send you to unlock Order Form, so it has to be exact. Once you register, you will receive a password from us. To use it,tap on the 'i' button, select "Enter PasswordÉ", and enter the password.
