MD3 -- Personal Physician database for the Newtonwritten by Aaron Giles and Greg LampeCopyright (c) 1993-94, Cornell University Medical CollegeWhat is it?----------MD3 is a first-pass at providing a simple database for physicians on the Newton. This database is capable of storing basic patient information (name, age, sex, etc.), a to-do list for each patient, a list of medications/reactions, a problems list, and several other miscellaneous fields. Once in the database, all this information can be quickly examined, or printed to a Newton-supported printer in a sign-out sheet format. A global to-do list can also be assembled out of all the individual patients' to-do lists, prioritized, and then copied to the notepad, where it can be printed or beamed to someone else. How do I install it?-----------------Use the Newton Connection Kit to download the MD3.pkg file, and also the MD3 Demo Soup.pkg file. Once these are on your Newton, tap on the MD3 Demo Soup icon to install a demonstration soup with several example patients. Note that each time you tap the MD3 Demo Soup icon, these same patients will be added to your current list, so don't run it too many times or else you will end up with a huge patient soup! After installing the demo soup, tap the MD3 icon to run MD3. You will be presented with an overview of the patients; from there, tap on a patient to bring up a detail view. Tapping on any of the buttons, or in any area of the detail page will bring up the appropriate editor so that you can add/modify the data stored there. Most everything else should be pretty self-explanatory.Limitations-----------Switching between folders of patients is pretty slowPatients are printed one to a page; this wastes a lot of paperThere is no support for beamingDisclaimer----------This software is still very much beta. Although it seems to be for the most part stable, we make no guarantees about the integrity any data you choose to enter into it.
