readme.txt for Little Peking v1.3 2/24/96 ==================================== Little Peking version 1.3 Copyright (c)1996, Namba One Systems by Kimiko & Tetuso Namba All rights reserved. ==================================== 1. Introduction This is a puzzle program for Newton. It's played on a board with 12 columns and 9 rows. There are 27 types of picture tiles. Each type has four tiles. Thus the total of 108 tiles are provided. The object of the game is to delete all tiles from the board by matching tiles of the same kind. This game is addictive and we have wasted much of our precious time. You are forewarned!2. Distribution of This Program This program is freeware. You are free to give it away to your friends and family members. Be sure to pass this readme file along with the program. If you upload this program to a BBS or FTP site, please notify us by sending email afterwards.3. Requirements This program was tested on the MP-120 with Newton OS 1.3. It should work on other models with the same OS. We received reports that it works on the OS 2.0 as well. The program takes up about 33KB of memory and consumes about 6KB of heap.4. How to Play A. Start A New Game When you start the game for the first time, a game board appears after a little pause. On the board you will see tile pieces of 90-100 in number. The board patterns are generated randomly. Each time you press the [New Game] button on screen, you get a new board configuration. B. Tile Pieces There are 27 types or kinds of tile pieces. For each type, there are four pieces. Depending on the board configuration, you may not see all four pieces for some types. That is because when a board pattern is generated adjacent tiles of the same kind are eliminated by the program. C. Eliminating Tiles - Method 1 You can eliminate a pair of tile pieces by tapping each in succession. But each tile must not have adjacent tiles on both sides. That is, only the tiles on the far right/left side or tiles with empty space on either side can be tapped. You can undo your move by tapping the regular "Undo" button immediately after eliminating tiles. Eliminating tiles this way gives you two points. There are more effective ways -- read the next section. D. Eliminating Tiles - Method 2 You can move around one or more tiles by dragging. You touch a tile and drag horizontally or vertically and release the pen when you reach to the desired column/row. There must be some emtpy spaces in the direction you intend to move tiles. You can undo your move by tapping the regular "Undo" button immediately after eliminating tiles. You earn 20 points for matching one pair of tiles, 80 for two pairs, and 180 for three pairs. E. Locating Other Tiles You can see on the board other tiles of the same kind. Tap a tile and tap the "Mmagnifying glass" button next to the "i" button. Selected tiles will flash a few times. F. Score Records Top ten scores are kept. To view the records tap the [Hi Score] button.5. Please Donate Writing a program and maintaining it takes a lot of efforts. If you find this program interesting, please donate some money to us. We are going to port this program to OS2.0 as soon as we obtain the new MP-120. Comments, bug reports and suggestions are welcome. Ms. Kimiko Namba 46-11-203 Minami-cho, Itabashi, Tokyo 173, Japan phone: +81-3-3530-8058 fax: +81-3-5966-9243 email: gcg00536@niftyserve.or.jp6.
