A) Don't call AOL. They will not be able to help you. What you need to do is reenter your screen name or your password. What probably happened was the handwriting recognition misinterpretted your password/screen name (ie: it thought an one (1) was an ell (L) or zero (0) was an ohh (o)). Double tap on the any grey input line to open the keyboard and use the keyboard to enter your screen name and password. Q) Can Aloha dial without waiting for the dial tone? A) Yes, in Modem prefs you need to uncheck the "Require dial tone" box. Q) Can I manually dial a number and then connect with Aloha? A) Yes, in the Aloha prefs set the phone number to a comma ',', tap Send or Receive Aloha in the IO Box, dial the number manually, when you hear the modem trying to connet on the other end tap the connect button. Q1) How do I find a number to connect to? Q2) Is there a list of access numbers for AOL? A1) Goto Keyword: "Access" on AOL and search for an local access number. Q) I keep timing out when I connect to AOL. Any suggestions? A) Do you have a 28.8 or faster modem? Make sure the EC (error correction) box is checked. If you have a Newton 2400 baud modem then EC must be unchecked. A2) Why type of modem do you have? If it is a newton modem you need to set the modem prefs to newton modem. If it is another type of modem then try "Hayes basic" or "28.8 and faster" as the modem type. A3) What number are you trying to access? Is it a AOLnet number? Q) How do I get rid of the "No messages to Send in Outbox" when I try connecting with Aloha? A) The In/Outbox tries to be smarter than Aloha. To work around this what you should do is: 1) Create a new screen name in the Aloha prefs, 2) In the notepad create a note, 3) mail it using Aloha and the new test screen name, but have Aloha send it later so it will just sit in the outbox, 4) now the inbox will always see a message waiting to be sent, but Aloha will ignore it because it was sent from your test account (you can delete the test account after you create the message). -------------------------------------- Bugs: -------------------------------------- „ Reading Formatted AOL messages : Aloha ignores the formatting (font, style, size) of messages created in AOL, but in some cases you will see some of the formatting information at the beginning of your email messasge. -------------------------------------- Pricing: -------------------------------------- Aloha is $50.00. You will get an error when Aloha hangs up the phone line. I will fix it at some point but right now it does not effect anything. 2.2 - 2/7/96 AOLnet and 800# numbers have a better connection probability Return Receipt - will notify you when an AOL user has read these specially marked messages Subject slip editor can be used in rotated view 2.1 - 1/6/96 added AOLGlobalNet Support fixed incoming email truncation problem. close iobox if less than 20k of heap is free 2.0.2 - 12/20/95 reply has two options with and without text -16005 fixed? close iobox if less than 40k of heap is free 14 day trial period resets itself 2.0 - 12/14/95 re-written to work with Newton OS 2.0 1.1 - 4/1/95 works with Newton OS version 1.3 only -------------------------------------- Legal Notice: -------------------------------------- AlohaȘ is a trademark of Catamount Software.
