Package Organizer v1.4---------------------------------------------------------------------copyright 1997 Stand Alone, Inc.NOTE: This software is for Newton 2.0 and 2.1 Newtons ONLY. * What's it do?--------------------------------------------------------------------- Package Organizer makes it easy for you to keep track of, manipulate, and manage your software packages. Moving packages becomes as easy as dragging from your internal memory to your card, and it's easy (and fast) to work with large groups of packages at once. * What's in this archive?--------------------------------------------------------------------- There is one Newton software package and two text files inthis archive. They are: * PkgOrgan.txt document you're now reading. * PkgOrgan.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton. * SAStuff.txt A list of all Stand Alone products.* Installing Package Organizer--------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, you must get the Package Organizer software package onto yourNewton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac orWindows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton BackupUtility. See the documentaion with each of these for moreinformation on installing packages with them.* Using Package Organizer--------------------------------------------------------------------- Open Package Organizer and you will be presented with between one and three lists. Each of these lists represents a memory location (also known as a 'store'), either your internal (Newton) memory, or a storage card. To move a package, tap on it's text (not it's icon) and drag it to the store where it belongs. A progress bar will indicate the status of the move. To find out more information about a package (such as it's compressed and uncompressed sizes, dates of creation and installation, and copyright information) tap on it's icon. You can check off multiple packages at a time to perform operations on all of them using the action button. These actions are: Beam: beam the package to another Newton Delete: remove the package from your Newton Freeze: deactivate the package, eliminating it's heap usage Thaw: un-freeze a package, re-activating it. You can also file multiple packages using the Filing button, and view different folders via the folder tab at the top of the display.Note: no built in packages are shown in these lists, only those installed in RAM.* Registering Package Organizer--------------------------------------------------------------------- You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Package Organizer, during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register (it's $15), you'll need to do one of the following: * Call us and pay using Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. We can give you a password right over the phone: instant gratification! (773) 477-2492. * Email us your credit card information, and we'll mail you back your registration codes. (NOTE: some people are uncomfortable sending credit card information over the net. In this case, you may want to fax us your information and have us email your passwords back to you.) * Fax us your information, and we'll fax you back your passwords. (773) 477-2579. * Send us a check for $15 to the address below. * Using CompuServe, GO SWREG. However you register, PLEASE be sure to include an email address(it's not vital, but it will result in MUCH speedier service) and your name, as entered in the Owner Info section of your Newton. This is used to generate the password we send you to unlock Package Organizer, so it has to be exact. Once you register, you will receive a password from us.
