It has "hot buttons" to insert the current time into the start and stop fields, and rounds off the elapsed time to the nearest minute, tenth of an hour, or quarter of an hour. The following information may be of interest nevertheless.¥ TimeCalc Start and Stop fields are formatted to accept time input only. It is not necessary to add AM or PM unless you wish to record a period of more than 12 hours. For example, if you enter "9" to Start and "1" for Stop, TimeCalc will assume you mean a period of 4 hours. If you do actually mean a period of 16 hrs, you will need to specify AM or PM. If you add minutes, be sure to use the ":" Do not enter the seconds. In general, the recognition of times works very well. Experiment with different formats to find what is easiest for you. ¥ Double-tapping on the Start and Stop fields will bring up a time-entry keyboard.¥ If you have your Newton when you start a project, use the ÒNowÓ choice when you tap on the Start label. This will insert the current time. Then close the application. When you reopen TimeCalc, the start time will still be there. When you have completed your task, tap the ÒNowÓ choice in the Stop label. TimeCalc will figure out how much time has gone by and fill in the Elapsed and Formatted fields. When the application is closed (or open for that matter), no timing functions are going on, so donÕt worry about TimeCalc draining your battery.¥ Tapping on the Formatted label presents three choices as to how the time in that field will be rounded off. Tap on the desired format and TimeCalc will reformat the current entry and remember your preference.¥ If TimeCalc does not get a proper time input from the Start and Stop lines, the Elapsed and Formatted fields will be left blank. TimeCalc is very forgiving as to user input, so if you are getting blank lines, check your Start and Stop fields.¥ Although you can not write in the Elapsed and Formatted Fields, you can still hilight the text in those fields, and then drag them into another application, such as Dates or Notes.¥ To those familiar with the Newton memory and data storage system: TimeCalc does not create any soups of its own, nor any entries in the system soup. It stores the previous Start and Stop times along with your format preference in its base view. If the Newton is reset the input lines will be blank and the default format will be restored.VERSION HISTORY0.5 March 15, 1994 This is the initial release of TimeCalc.
