To use Speed on a Newton 100, 110, 120/1.3, or Original MessagePad, please download version 1.1 of Speed.* What's it do?---------------------------------------------------------------------	Speed provides a variety of methods to quickly get to any name in your Names file. It also lets you set up certain default settings the Names.		* What's in this archive?---------------------------------------------------------------------	There are two Newton software packages and two text files inthis archive. They are:	* Speed.txt		document you're now reading. 'Nuff said.	* Speed.pkg		software package you'll install on your Newton.	* SASReg.pkg	software package you'll install on your Newton to					enter the password you get when you register 					Speed.	* SAStuff.txt	A list of all Stand Alone products.* Installing Speed---------------------------------------------------------------------	First off, you must get the Speed software package onto yourNewton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac orWindows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton BackupUtility. See the documentaion with each of these for moreinformation on installing packages with them.* Using Speed---------------------------------------------------------------------	Speed is configured using the Prefs application in the Extras Drawer. Once opened, you will be presented with options to configure how Speed presents its Quick Access features, as well as how you'd like the Names file to open (which folder and which view.)	The four Quick Access options are:		¥ÊPopup Menu		When you tap on the lower half of the Names button a 					menu will open, presenting the letters A to Z. Tapping a					letter open the names file to that letter.						¥ Scribble Window	When you tap on the lower half of the Names button a					small window will open. In this window you can write 					several letters of a particular name, and the Names File 					will open to that name, or, if it's already open will move 					to that name or letter. If you write a single letter, the 					Names File will open to the overview. If you write more 					than one letter, the Names File will go to the "All Info" 					view for that name. The 'i' button will open the "Prefs",					the button next to it will clear the entry line, and the 					"N" button will create a new name.		¥ÊMini Keyboard		When you tap on the lower half of the Names button a 					small window will open with three rows of letters A to Z. 								You can tap out the first three letters of a desired name. 					As with the Scribble Window, a single letter will move to 					the overview, and multiple letters will move to the "All 					Info" view. The 'i' button will open the Prefs.		¥ÊLetter Search		When you write a letter or letters onto the Names 					button, the Names file will open to that letter. Writing a 					single letter will move to	the overview, and multiple 					letters will move to the "All Info" view.						Below the Quick Access options are the settings for your preferred Names File settings. If you check the "Open the Names to a particular folder" checkbox, then each time you open the Names File it will be set to the chosen folder. The same applies to the "Open the Names File to a particular View". In addition, if you check the "Switch to this view whenever possible" will switch to the selected view whenever you use one of the Quick Access methods.* Registering Speed---------------------------------------------------------------------	You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Speed, during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register, you'll need to do one of the following:	* Call us and pay using Visa or Mastercard. We can give you a 	  password right over the phone: instant gratification!  (773) 477-2492.	* Send us a check for $15 to the address below.			* Using CompuServe, GO SWREG.		* Using Flash Sheridan's Register program (enclosed in the Speed	  archive) and a mail package (such as Aloha or CIS Retriever).		Open up Register, fill in the application (Speed:SAS), the	amount ($15), and your credit card information, and email it.	However you register, PLEASE be sure to include an email address(it's not vital, but it will result in MUCH speedier service) and your name, as entered in the Owner Info section of your Newton. This is used to generate the password we send you to unlock Speed, so it has to be exact.	Once you register, you will receive a password from us. To use it,install the SAS Register package (also enclosed in the Speedarchive), select "Speed" from the pop up menu at the top, and enterthe password. You should get a message confirming the password.
