Announcing newPage v2.5!!! Many thanks to the many people who've sent me email with feedback and suggestions! v2.5 addresses about 95% of these requests: o Auto-install newPage will persist even after system restarts! There are 2 versions of newPage v2.5 shipped with this .sit: one is auto-install (which allows for real-time install/removal) one is an auto-part (which takes up no slot in the extras drawer) o uses default store (if that's what's checked for your FlashCard) o uses default folder o uses correct height for the data in the (previously) last note. And special thanks to Ron Flax (ron@afsg.apple.com) and Jason Leigh (jleigh@eecs.uic.edu) for taking the time to implement their excellent suggestions. That's it for now. If you've any further feedback and/or requests, please feel free to email me at keith@cognisense.com... Enjoy! Keith keith@cognisense.com === === === === === === === === Here's the .README from the original app (sometimes called newPage, sometimes called newNote): === === === === === === === === Here's a mini-app (called newPage) which I wrote to help my Newton keep up with my note-taking sessions. My Newton was beginning to frustrate me in that handwriting recognition is far too slow to keep up with conversation. Ok, so I switched to digital ink. Problem there was that once your digital ink note gets to about 2 or 3 screen sizes, it takes a long time for the Newton to accept it so that you can scroll down to the next empty screen. (Also, if you get too long - like 4 or 5 pages - the note will be too long and the Newton will not accept it.) Finally, the the gesture for creating a new page is often mis-interpreted as a word, causing even longer delays!!! So, being a child of the 'gottaHaveaCoolGizmo' generation, I decided to write newPage instead of scraping my Newt. newPage installs a button onto the Notes app's status bar which quickly creates a new page and scrolls you down one screen so that you're ready to keep on takin' notes. Sounds like a bogus little application, but believe me, it's really improved the Newton's ability to keep up with my note-taking speed... The app is free-ware, and I want to thank XXXXXXXX for his posting which pointed me to KeyboardChicken (I would have never guessed that one) - and to Stephen Dohrmann on AOL for posting End n' Back which proved to me that you COULD hack the Notes app...
